Jeju Jocheon House / Jeju Saseum Bookshop A project to build a house with a Provence-like feel in Daeheul-ri, Jocheon, Jeju, away from the city center. It is a long, narrow site with a tangerine orchard to the north, an existing road to the south, and adjacent lots to the east and west. On the east and west, only the minimum setback was left so as not to hinder passage, and the building was placed roughly midway between south and north. The gables of the roof were composed so that the building looks most beautiful from the northern entrance and avoids monotony. Jeju's trees — seemingly small yet holding a dignified presence with countless spreading branches. Jeju's jade-coloured sea that need not envy the blue Mediterranean. In Jeju, a city all the more sought after for its beautiful, exotic natural setting, an elegant European house has appeared. Using the stone walls characteristic of Jeju villages and the roofing material of old French houses, the space was carefully conceived with harmonious proportion. It is truly a beautiful harmony of East and West. The (apricot-tinged beige) colour used on the outer walls blends with the natural material of Jeju's stone walls into a truly beautiful house. To add warmth to the corridor wall between the living room and the second-floor stair, a curved wall was used to divide the space. Physical separation and psychological (emotional) separation combine to make an even cozier, more satisfying space.
